Why do people continue to eat foods that they know are bad for them?

Why do people continue to consume certain foods when they know that these foods are bad for them? Many doctors may blame it on their patients but in actuality the food designer, processors, and restaurants are apart of this too. The food designers/ restaurants want you to come back for more. How do they do this? They will overload foods with fat, sugar, and salt. These components stimulate the brain to want/need more (Seltzer). Not only does the food industry load foods with sugar but also they will load your plate. Many restaurants will give you three times the portion size needed for your daily intake. Some people think that since I paid 15 bucks for a meal I might as well get what I paid for and clean the plate. Eating unhealthy foods could also be an issue with lifestyle or even laziness. People want quick and readily available foods. When coming home from work after a long day you probably don’t want to stand over the stove for an hour after being on your feet all day. Most likely people will stop at fast food. Some fast food places will make their healthy food costly (6.99 salad) or even make it cheaper for you to get a whole meal and make it a large. There are many factors that influence people to eat they way they do but to stop these habits it all starts with the mind.
