Since physical activity consumes the highest number of calories, it is among the top three factors involved in calculating how many calories you boy needs per day (Discovery Fit and Health, 2013). Physical activity includes everything from making your bed, to walking to class, to working out at the gym. However, the different physical activities burn different amounts of calories depending on the person. Which then affects the amount of calories needed to consume in one day. Someone who weighs more than someone else will burn a different amount of calories doing the same activity (Discovery Fit and Health, 2013). During a one hour basketball game a person who weighed 160 pounds burns around 584 calories, while someone who weighs 200 pounds would burn around 728 calories (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2011). This means that they would need to consume different amounts of calories per day if they both wanted to obtain a 2,000 calorie diet.
