What is spirituality and how does it contribute to a persons health?

Spiritual Health is a personal matter involving values and beliefs that provide a purpose in our lives.  Research shows that having a spiritual outlook on life is good for a person. It can help them to be healthy and happy.
Spirituality is understood in different ways. It’s believed that it is about self-awareness and spending time examining, reflecting and assessing an understanding of oneself, relationship with the world around, and other dimensions of life. It may include a God or divinities.  Spirituality can help you to look outside of yourself and find meaning. The path to spiritual health may involve meditation, prayer, affirmations, or specific spiritual practices that support a person’s connection to a higher power or belief system. Yoga and meditation are good ways to help with spiritual health.  Also, having compassion, the capacity for love and forgiveness, altruism, joy, and fulfillment help a person enjoy spiritual health. Their religious faith, values, beliefs, principles, and morals define their spirituality.
