I decided to change my question that I had in-class to this one because it is very similar to my World Service Project.
This question is very important to me and I wanted to look more into it because America is on a downward spiral with obesity trends, and is continuously getting worse and worse. I wanted to discover and find out simple ways that people can start and work away from obesity. To achieve and accomplish long term health outcomes a simple step is increasing your physical activity. To me this is surprising that it is such a simple step but people fail to do it. Another way is to increase the amounts of fruits and vegetables you eat on a regular basis and with your diet. Instead of buying and eating processed foods at the grocery store they should be getting foods that actually benefit your body and help you function. Another big topic I found was watching less television. This can also come into play with not getting enough physical exercise because people are to busy being stuck on the couch and watching TV. Another simple one that involves eating healthy and regulating a good amount of exercise is decreasing your BMI. BMI can be used to compare your own weight status to that of a general population. Ways populations and areas try to help control and regulate obesity is by doing three simple steps that can be classified as: 1: monitoring the trend of the obesity within certain areas and communities, 2: discuss, plan, and make certain decisions that can help evaluate the certain obesity trend, and 3: asses by implementing interventions, and making polices that impact the environment. These simple ways can help people change the obesity trends and get on the right track to eliminating and controlling this major health concern in the United States.
