How can you eat and cook healthy when you live on a restricted budget?

Danielle T

I always try to eat healthy because I know how important it is for my health. I struggle with only being able to buy a limited amount of fruits and vegetables because I cannot afford everything that I would like. It's a constant battle I have between healthy food and money. I have a lot of bills that I have to pay and I never know if I should buy healthy products or save the extra cash.
After doing some research I found some easy tips to make eating healthy a little simpler. One thing that I have recently adapted was buying frozen fruits and vegetables. It's much cheaper and they are actually better for you then cans and can taste better than fresh fruits or vegetables. I have also started buying in bulk at Sam's and Costco. I don't have to go to the grocery as much and I'm saving a lot of money. Another tip that I have recently picked up is using coupons. If I see one that I might use in the future I save it. I've noticed that some places will even take expired coupons which can be very helpful. The thing that I find the hardest but can save you a lot of money in the long run is to buy fruits and vegetables that are in season. They are much cheaper and taste so much better. You could spend so much more on fruit just because it is out of season. Slowly adapting to some of these could save you some money. A gradual shift is much easier and won't seem like such a hard thing to do.
