Is eating out always a bad thing?

Danielle Z

All my life I've had my family to cook for me and eating out can usually be associated with negative connotations. Now that I am on my own, don't have the time, money, or skill to cook for myself my meals aren't as nutritious for me as home cooked meals were when I lived with my parents. Now when I eat out it is usually the only time I actually feel very full and some of my only good sources of protein. I don't eat out a lot, but like most other things, can eating out be good depending on the place and if done in moderation? I could not find any websites that said eating out was not a bad thing, but if I'm not doing it a lot, I don't know if I agree with that. The website I found gives ten reasons why eating out is considered a bad thing to most people:
1. It's expensive
2. It's time consuming
3. You don't learn anything
4. It's less healthy
5. You don't know what's gone into it
6. You miss out on home comforts
7. There are more temptations
8. The novelties wear off
9. You don't control quantities
10. You can't relax
Some of these I agree with, but some I don't think play as big of a role as they are making it seem. For me eating out saves me the time of cooking, makes me full, usually my only source of meat, and I always try to make it a good restaurant and not fast food. It's hard to buy things to make a meal when you are only cooking for one person, ingredients could go bad before you use them up.
