It's not uncommon to hear that breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day, yet some of us brush it off and say we can live without it not knowing the consequences that come with not eating breakfast. So why is eating breakfast so important for ones' health? According to Ellen Topness' article "Reasons Not to Skip Breakfast", such things as brain function, weight, energy, and other health issues can be affected. Breakfast is important for the aforementioned subjects because it keeps you awake and alert, as well as keeps weight at a healthy level rather than makes you gain weight. Amazing right? Breakfast has a major effect on weight because when one doesn't eat it, as stated by Topness, "One reason for weight gain in non-breakfast eaters may be due to the prolonged fasting state your body enters if you go too long without eating. When you finally eat, it stores food as fat as a survival mechanism," which means you're actually gaining weight if you're not eating breakfast. But breakfast does more than that, it keeps you energized throughout the morning as well as gives you the nutrients that you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle which could prevent something as serious as heart disease due to bad cholesterol.
Now that we know the consequences and benefits of eating breakfast is there a specific time to eat it? Well according to Carly Schuna's article "What Time Should You Eat Breakfast?", one should eat breakfast within the first hour of being awake to really kick start their metabolism.
